I started working at Intercontinental Packers in 1976. Since that time, the Company has changed owners six times, and is now Maple Leaf Food. My current position is Inventory Control in the Maintenance Department. I have recently been re-elected for a second four-year term as the Financial Treasurer for Local 248P.
I have been a member of Local 248P for more than 20 years, being trained in most positions at Maple Leaf Consumer Foods, and am currently in the receiving and storing area of the Mid West Distribution Centre.I hold the Unit Chair position at our distribution centre and am Fourth Vice President on our Union’s Executive Committee.
I have worked at Bunge Canada for 19 years as a Solvent Operator. I hold the Unit Chair position for our plant and am the Fifth Vice President on our Union’s Executive Committee.
I ran to be Vice President so that I could make a difference in my workplace and community, to settle grievances, and to work for the greater good of our members. Over the years, I have been Chief Shop Steward, Area Steward and a member of the Social Committee. I have participated in several stewards training courses.
I have been a member of Local 248P at Star Egg for more than 20 years, many of those years in Route Sales. Ever since brother George Semeniuk encouraged me to participate in our Union, I have been involved ever since. Currently, I hold the Unit Chair position at Star Egg and am Sixth Vice President on our Union’s Executive Committee.
